This guide installs 4Klive, the IPTV player developed by the RabbitAI TV team. Steps 1 and 2 are the same for any IPTV app you sideload on a Fire TV.
Installing an IPTV player on a Fire TV Stick takes about five minutes. You need three things:
- a Fire TV device that still allows app installs (see the check below);
- the free Downloader app;
- your provider's Xtream Codes details: server address, username and password.
There is nothing long to type on the remote. You'll enter one short code, and the playlist is added from your phone.
Before you start: check that your Fire TV can install apps
In 2025, Amazon started shipping some Fire TV sticks with Vega OS instead of Fire OS. Vega OS cannot install apps from outside the Amazon Appstore, so Downloader and 4Klive won't work on it.
To check, go to Settings > My Fire TV > About and look at the software version:
- "Fire OS" followed by a number: you're good, continue with this guide.
- "OS 1." something: your device runs Vega OS. Today that's the Fire TV Stick 4K Select and the 2nd-generation Fire TV Stick HD.
Fire TV Stick 4K, Fire TV Stick 4K Max, Fire TV Cube and TVs with Fire TV built-in run Fire OS and work fine. If your stick runs Vega OS, use an Android TV or Google TV device instead (see the end of this guide).
Step 1: Install the Downloader app
- From the Fire TV home screen, open Find (the magnifying glass) and search for Downloader.
- Select the orange Downloader app by AFTVnews and choose Get or Download.
- Open it once, and allow access to files if it asks.
Step 2: Allow Downloader to install apps
Fire TV hides the developer settings by default, so you have to unlock them first.
- Go to Settings > My Fire TV > About.
- Highlight your device name (for example "Fire TV Stick 4K") and press the select button on the remote 7 times. A message says you are now a developer.
- Go back to Settings > My Fire TV > Developer options.
- Open Install unknown apps and turn Downloader to ON.
Only Downloader needs this permission. Leave it off for every other app.
Step 3: Enter the 4Klive code in Downloader
Open Downloader, select the address box, type 9234307 and press Go.
If the code doesn't work, type the full address instead: rabbitaitv.com/downloads/4klive.apk
The download is small (about 3 MB) and takes a few seconds.
Step 4: Install and open 4Klive
- When the installer asks "Do you want to install this application?", select Install.
- Select Open.
- Back in Downloader, choose Delete when it offers to remove the installation file. The app stays installed; you only free up storage.
Your 7-day free trial starts automatically on first launch. There is no account to create and no card to enter.
Step 5: Add your playlist from your phone
On first launch, 4Klive shows a TV code, a PIN and a QR code.
- Scan the QR code with your phone's camera, or open rabbitaitv.com/activate in any browser. With the QR code, the TV code is filled in for you.
- Enter the PIN shown on the TV and select Continue.
- Choose Add a playlist and enter your provider's Xtream Codes details: host (server address), port, username and password.
The TV checks for your playlist every few seconds and opens by itself once it's added. You never have to type a password with the remote.
Prefer the remote? Select Manual entry on the TV and type your Xtream Codes details there instead.
About M3U links: 4Klive works best with Xtream Codes accounts, but any M3U link works too since version 1.3.0, including standalone M3U files. Add it in the M3U URL tab on the activation page. More in our guide Xtream Codes vs M3U.
Put 4Klive on your home screen
Sideloaded apps land at the end of your app list. To keep 4Klive close:
- Press and hold the Home button, then select Apps.
- Highlight 4Klive and press the Options button (three lines).
- Choose Move to front.
Installing on Android TV or Google TV
The steps are almost the same on Android TV boxes, Google TV (including Chromecast with Google TV) and Nvidia Shield:
- Install Downloader from the Google Play Store.
- Open it, enter 9234307 and press Go.
- The first time, Android asks for permission to install unknown apps. Select Settings, turn it on for Downloader, then go back.
- Install, open, and follow Step 5 above.
Troubleshooting
Downloader says the code is invalid or nothing happens
Type the full address rabbitaitv.com/downloads/4klive.apk in the address box and press Go. Also check that your Fire TV is connected to the internet.
"App not installed"
This usually means there's not enough free storage, or an older test version of 4Klive is already installed. Delete the old version under Settings > Applications > Manage installed applications, free up some space, and try again.
The TV says "Can't reach the server — retrying…"
The TV isn't reaching the internet. Check your Wi-Fi and restart the Fire TV (Settings > My Fire TV > Restart). A restart also resyncs the clock, and a wrong clock blocks secure connections.
"Credentials rejected by the IPTV server"
The playlist was received, but your provider refused the login. Open rabbitaitv.com/activate again and double-check the server address, port, username and password. They are case-sensitive.
Streams buffer or freeze
For 4K, aim for at least 25 Mbps. Use 5 GHz Wi-Fi or an Ethernet adapter, and keep the stick away from the back of the TV. If only some channels buffer, the issue is on the provider's side, not the player.
The app says the trial has ended
After 7 days, 4Klive locks until you activate a licence: $9.99 per year or $24.99 one-time for lifetime. The lock screen shows a QR code to contact us with your TV code already filled in. One licence activates one TV.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is it safe to turn on "Install unknown apps"?
Yes, as long as you only enable it for Downloader and only install apps from sources you trust. You can turn it off again once 4Klive is installed. Updates are installed the same way.
Does 4Klive work on the Fire TV Stick 4K Select?
No. The Fire TV Stick 4K Select and the 2nd-generation Fire TV Stick HD run Vega OS, which can't install apps from outside the Amazon Appstore. Use a Fire TV Stick 4K, 4K Max, Fire TV Cube, or an Android TV or Google TV device.
Is 4Klive free?
